A big thank you to everyone who helped to raise money for the Poppy Appeal in November. We raised £120.11!
This week in Year 5, we had a visit from Blue Cross. An animal welfare charity that provides veterinary care and expert behavioural help as well as helps finding homes for pets in need. During their visit, we had an interactive presentation with lots of interesting information about the importance of keeping our pets safe, especially during the winter months. The children were really fascinated by the facts and were asking many thoughtful questions. We are really proud of our Year 5’s for immersing themselves during the presentation and being respectful. They also showed great resilience and aimed high. Great job Year 5!
So far, we have raised £32.50.
Our recent non-uniform day raised a wonderful £287.70 for the Stevenage Community Trust's Christmas Gift Appeal. A big thank you to everyone for their donations.
Almond Hill helped to raise £580.82 for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. Well done!
Almond Hill, along with many othe schools, held a fundraising day on Monday 25th September to raise money for a fantastic charity. As most of you will know, The Abilities in Me Foundation writes children’s stories based on real children with a range of conditions. Money raised goes into: creating more books to help raise awareness, supporting school SEND projects and running family support events which they are looking to expand across the UK. If you would like to find out more, please go to: www.theabiltiesinme.com. All teachers read at least one book from the range to children during the day. Children were invited to wear an item of brightly coloured clothing to school to highlight that although we may have some differences we are mostly the same. Parents of children in Years 4, 5 and 6 will remember that the author of this book series visited the school (free of charge) last year and donated her entire series to our school library. Children were truly inspired by her visit and her books so this is a lovely way to support the charity.
As a school, we raised an impressive £183.19
£352 was raised for Lasting Memories Trust. Almond Hill contributed to the total with our recent wear blue or pink day.
The school community went purple to raise awareness for epilepsy. It was fantastic to see so many people participate and I was very proud of how well the children engaged in my assembly on Monday. A big thank you to one of our parents who organised some bands to sell – I am very grateful and we raised £100!
Our newly elected School Government raised £153.50 for Cancer Research UK with their Christmas Pyjama Day.
We raised £216.94 for the Royal British Legion last month. Thank you!
