Key Messages

Relationship and Health Education – Parent Meetings April 2025

Year 4, 5 and 6 will be teaching RHE in the summer term. It is part of our policy to offer parents the opportunity to ask questions and view the resources that will be used in lessons, the vast majority of which is statutory. These meetings will be held online via Teams and links for these are in the list of dates above.

Parent Survey re Later Finish for Year 5 and 6

Thank you to those parents who completed the survey before Easter. We had approximately 45 responses but the feedback is roughly 50/50 for each answer. This is not enough for us to make a decision on how to move forward so would really appreciate some more feedback. If you haven’t already submitted the form below, please do so this week.

What year group is your child in?*
Do you think the later finish for the upper school has helped to reduce congestion outside school at pick up times?*
Do you think this has been a positive change?*
Would you like to keep the times as they are or go back to the same finish times for all?

Swimming - Pop-up Pool and School Reports

Thank you for everyone who made contributions towards their child’s lessons in the pop up pool. I can confirm that a total of £2,111.50 was paid. We are very grateful for all contributions but we are left with a deficit of £9,293.50 which will need to be taken out of the school’s budget. As I have previously mentioned, swimming must be taught as part of the National Curriculum and therefore we must prioritise this over extracurricular activities. We will continue to use this service and aim to continue to improve how we operate when we begin again in the Autumn term and will send information out nearer to the time.

For years 5 and 6 swimming will be added to the school reports. The expectation as per the National Curriculum is that all children can swim 25 metres so if applicable, your child’s school report will now state whether or not they can swim the required 25 metres. We have the data for children who were assessed in the pop up pool but there were parents who told us their child could swim due to external lessons. If this is the case for your child, please send evidence in (i.e their most recent swimming certificate) so we can add this to our information.  You can email a photo to admin@almondhill.herts.sch.uk. Please do this by Friday 30th May as reports will be written in June.
