Issue 26 - 4th April 2025

Dear Families,

Thank you to all the families who joined us this week for the maths morning and the Rocksteady concert – it was lovely to see so many of you here!

We have reached the end of the spring term and the sun is shining! When we return from the Easter break, the summer term will be in full swing! We have lots of events to look forward to including a variety of sporting competitions, exciting school trips and visitors to the school. Our Year 6 children will be in their final preparations for their SATs tests in May before they enjoy the fabulous leavers’ events that have been planned for them this year.

I hope you all have a wonderful Easter and look forward to welcoming you back on Tuesday 22nd April.

Hayfever Medication

We know lots of children suffer with hayfever when the weather changes so to save lots of calls home requesting medication, please can parents consider giving hayfever medication at home, before school, if you feel your child needs it.

School Of Kindness

Almond Hill have joined an online community called '52 Lives - School of Kindness' with the aim of promoting kindness in our school community and beyond.

We have selected Kindness Ambassadors from each class and we meet to discuss ideas and the Kindness initiatives that we are going to implement in class, the wider school, local and national community. Every half term, the Year 6 Ambassadors attend a Zoom call with the other schools involved nationally to brainstorm ideas and celebrate achievements. We now have a 'Kindness Challenge of the week' which is selected in Monday morning assembly. This week's Kindness Challenge has been 'Cheer someone on when they do well and be happy for them' and we have seen lots of children supporting and encouraging their peers to do their best.

Parent Survey re Later Finish for Year 5 and 6

As you know, this term, we have trialled letting children in Year 5 and 6 leave at 3.20pm at the end of the school day in a hope it will reduce congestion outside of school at pick up time. Now it is time to give your feedback about the change of times and to let us know if this has been beneficial or not. School leaders will also be discussing this along with their observations and feedback.

What year group is your child in?*
Do you think the later finish for the upper school has helped to reduce congestion outside school at pick up times?*
Do you think this has been a positive change?*
Would you like to keep the times as they are or go back to the same finish times for all?
